Travis Kelley
I was born in Kentucky in 1968 and have lived the majority of my life in Mt. Washington. I take my inspiration from a love of the outdoors and Native American cultures. My art has also been influenced by the works of Charles M. Russell, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and every talented Pueblo potter that has ever lived to name a few. A special thanks from the deepest part of my heart goes to the late Bob Ross, whose "Joy of Painting" series on Kentucky Educational Television (KET) made such a lasting impression on me at a very early age. Since I was a young boy I have been involved in art, including wood working and burning, sculpture, watercolors, oils, acrylics and any other medium that seems appropriate for great art. I completed my first commissioned work at age twelve and have sold work from coast to coast to corporate and private collections. In my studio you will also find a variety of watercolor paintings inspired by the farms I used to hunt and some I still do. I owe my earliest watercolor inspirations to Kentucky Watercolor Society artist Donald Falk, who lived a short distance from me in my youth. When I saw Donald's beautiful paintings I immediately fell in love with the medium. Soon after, I began to study the watercolors of Charles M. Russell. Thank you Don! I am a juried member of the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program. I am also a member of the Bullitt County Arts Council and the Kentucky Gourd Society.
It has been said that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. I however believe that beauty is in the heart of the creator. I say this because my works are not just mere illustrations of an idea in someone else’s mind, but rather they come from deep within and are inspired by the world and people around me, past and present. It is my deepest wish that you will enjoy owning a piece of my art as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Sincerely,
Travis Kelley
